New teachers in Clintonville

Staff ready to start new school year

Several new teachers greeted students this week when school began on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Here are the new teachers in the Clintonville School District.

Stacey Butts
Butts, originally from Greenfield, attended college at UW-Green Bay.

She served as a substitute teacher in the spring of this year.

In the Clintonville School District she will teach fifth grade communication arts as well as science at the middle school.

Butts said she enjoys seeing students succeed and watching them become better students and people.

Her goal for the year is to “make a positive impact on the students.”

Tara Hagman
Hagman is starting her 14th year of teaching.

Originally from Circle Pines, Minnesota, she received her undergraduate degree from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and her master’s degree from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota.

She’ll teach first grade at Rexford-Longfellow Elementary School in Clintonville.

“To learn how the district works and to get to know the families I will be working with,” Hagman said are her goals for the year.

She added that her students and the people she works with are what she enjoys most about teaching.

Janelle Hegner
Hegner attended Fox Valley Technical College for Early Childhood Education, as well as UW-Oshkosh for Elementary Education. She is currently taking reading specialist classes at Viterbo University.

Her previous work experience includes working as a four year old kindergarten assistant in the Hortonville School District, as well as teaching second grade teacher at Bonduel Elementary School.

She’ll teach third grade at Rexford-Longfellow Elementary School in Clintonville.

“My goals this year are to get to know the Clintonville community and to get to know my students and families, to build strong relationships,” Hegner said.

She added, “I enjoy helping students reach their goals.”

Heather Hoffmann
Originally from Kaukauna, Hoffman attended college at UW-Green Bay.

Her previous work experience includes substitute teaching in the Kaukauna Area School District and the Kimberly Area School District.

She’ll teach first grade at Rexford-Longfellow Elementary School in Clintonville.

When asked what she enjoys about teaching, she said, “providing a fun learning environment for my students.”

Her goal for the year is to “build a strong relationship with my students and help them succeed academically.”

Ciara Jones
Jones is starting her first year of teaching. Previously she was a substitute teacher in Oshkosh.

She is from Wrightstown and attended college at UW-Oshkosh.

In Clintonville, she’ll teach math as social studies at the middle school.

“I enjoy the connections I make with the students and watching the students grow in their academics,” Jones said.

She said her goal is to encourage students to think outside the box.

Sara Kailing
Kailing is originally from Reed City, Michigan. She attended Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, and studied English and Elementary Education.

Her teaching experience includes second and third grade as well as seventh and eighth grade English.

In the Clintonville School District she will teach eighth grade English and communication arts at the middle school.

She said she enjoys learning the students’ learning styles and interests.

“To become an active part of our school and community, create great relationships with my students, and make learning grammar fun,” Kailing said are her goals for the year are.

Ellie Kanke
Kanke attended college at UW-Eau Claire.

Previously she taught third and fourth grade in the White Lake School District.

She’ll teach fifth grade communication arts and fifth grade science at Clintonville Middle School.

“I love watching the students grow in learning throughout the year,” Kanke said.

She added, “My goal is to help the students become life-long learners.”

Jason Leist
From Merrill, Leist attended college at UW-Stevens Point and studied Elementary Education.

He has two years of experience as a substitute teacher. He has also spent time teaching fourth grade summer school math and has one year of experience teaching eighth grade language arts.

Leist will teach eighth grade language arts at Clintonville Middle School.

When asked what he enjoys most about teaching, he said, “When the students ‘get’ it, when their eyes light up and are able to use the information.”

He added that his goals are to, “be sure my students are where they need to be by the end of the year and enjoy being in the classroom.”

Michelle Lewis
Originally from Greenville, Lewis attended Marian College in Fond du Lac, where she studied Early Childhood/Elementary Education.

She has eight years of experience teaching kindergarten with Unified School District of De Pere.

Lewis will teach 4K at Dellwood Early Learning Center in the School District of Clintonville.

“I am looking forward to working with my students and their families and exploring the world of 4K,” Lewis said.

She said there are plenty of things she enjoys about teaching.

“The best part of my job is definitely the kids and their families,” Lewis said. “I do not think there is much greater in life than looking into the eyes of a child and watching them grow, discover, and learn about the world around them.”

Wenonah Moore
Moore is from Grafton. She received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from UW-Madison, and a master’s degree in Foreign Language and Literature from UW-Milwaukee.

From 2007-15 she taught introductory level Spanish courses at UW-Milwaukee.

She’ll teach Spanish at Clintonville High School this year.

“I enjoy helping students put together what they’ve learned to be able to create with language,” Moore said.

She added, “My goals for this school year are to get to know the students, my new colleagues, and the community.”

Tiffany O’ Toole
A Clintonville native, O’ Toole attended college at UW-Green Bay.

Her teaching experience includes teaching for three years at West De Pere High School, and one year at Franklin Middle School in Green Bay.

In the Clintonville School District she’ll teach special education math and communication arts for seventh and eighth grade.

“I love building relationships with students and seeing how much they grow and progress over the year,” O’ Toole said. “This year I hope to get to know the students and staff at Clintonville Middle School.”

Sam Raff
Raff is from Sheboygan and attended college at UW-Platteville.

He will teach Spanish in the Clintonville School District at both the middle school and high school.

“I really enjoy interacting with the students and seeing them grow,” Raff said.
He said he wants to get to know each of his students individually. He also wants to get involved with the community.

Stephanie Wetzel
A Clintonville native, Wetzel attended college at St. Norbert College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education, and a minor in English as a Second Language. She also has a Spanish Language Certificate.

In the fall of 2014 she was a student teacher in Howard and Seymour.

In the Clintonville School District she’ll teach third grade at Rexford-Longfellow Elementary School.

“I enjoy working with children and watching them find success in their learning. It is so rewarding to see them grow,” Wetzel said.

She said one of her goals is to make sure students are given the support and challenges they need to ensure learning.
