A Manawa man is accused of breaking into a restaurant to steal some snacks and petty cash.

Darin M. Poppy, 21, is charged with burglary and theft.

On Aug. 27, Cpl. Michelle Kamba, with the Manawa Police Department, spoke with the owner of Cruisin’ In, who reported that someone broke into the restaurant.

The owner said when he came to work that morning, he found the screen door damaged and evidence that someone entered the building.

The burglar took $73 in cash, ate three slices of watermelon, cheese curds and drank some root beer before leaving the building.

On Aug. 28, the owner called the police again and reported there had been another break-in. This time, 10 rolls of pennies and three rolls of nickels were missing.

Poppy, who is a former employee of the restaurant, was subsequently questioned about the break-ins and charged.
