Winifred “Winnie” Malliet-Welter, age 85, of Clintonville passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah.

The former Winifred Rose Jones was born on February 2, 1930 in Clintonville to Obediah and Margaret (Roberts) Jones. She was united in marriage on January 15, 1947 to Gordon Malliet at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. The couple made their home in Clintonville and raised two daughters. For several years Winnie was employed at Hansen Glove Factory, Clintonville, but otherwise she was always a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother who will be missed by everyone. Winnie was an avid reader and enjoyed writing letters to numerous pen pals, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, and going on bus trips around the U.S. with her husband. On October 8, 1994 her husband, Gordon, preceded her in death and on June 19, 1999 she was married to John Welter at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Winnie and John liked going on bus trips to the area casinos and attending activities at the Clintonville Senior Center, especially playing cards and bingo. Winnie was always very competitive when it came to playing cards like, smear, sheepshead, polish rummy, or canasta. Winnie’s husband, John, passed away on August 9, 2011. Her other favorite pastime was going to movies and plays with her caregiver friend.

Survivors include two daughters, Penny (Chuck) Gruetzmacher of Walworth and Sherry (Jack) Hagen of Menominee, MI. There are four grandchildren, Brian (Becky Johnston) Gruetzmacher of Washington D.C., Michael (Lyndsay) Gruetzmacher of Geneva, IL, Sarah (Peter) Hoyt of Sun Prairie, and Rowyn Hagen of Menominee, MI. There are four great-grandchildren, Oscar, Moxie, Wolphin, and Luela. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Winnie is preceded in death by her parents, and both husbands, Gordon and John.

Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Deacon Lincoln Wood, Parish Director at St. Rose, will officiate and burial will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent via www.beil-didier.com.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Verdeen Welch of Shawano for the kindness and compassion provided to Winnie to afford her the ability to remain in her own home.
