Ella Irene (Piotraschke) Laabs, age 85, of Neenah, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, with her family by her side.
She was born September 13, 1930 in Waupaca County to the late Albert and Amanda (Hintz) Piotraschke. On June 20, 1953, Ella married Robert Laabs at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. She had worked at Holiday Inn in Neenah and Zwicker’s Knitting Mill in Appleton. Ella enjoyed cats and gardening. She kept track of all of her family and friends birthdays and anniversaries, and if anyone needed to know one of these dates Ella was the one to call.
Ella is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Julie Laabs, of Larsen; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Nick Calabrese, of Menasha; five grandchildren, Amanda Berndt, Tiffany (Timothy) Hale, Rebecca Laabs, Kevin and ScottieLee Calabrese; three great-grandchildren, Spencer and Elliott Hale, Kameron Gruenstern; a brother and sister-in-law, Arnie and Patsy Piotraschke, of Clintonville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys Begrow, of Marion; Rosie and Ervin Mackowiak, of Embarrass; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Along with her parents, Ella was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a son, Michael; and an infant brother, August Piotraschke. A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St., Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Gibson officiating. Burial will be in the Clayton Cemetery.
