Hortonville soccer wins one, loses two

Polar Bears defeat Appleton East, lose to FVL, Kaukauna

Fox Valley Lutheran’s soccer team defeated Hortonville 5-2 at Hortonville’s annual breast cancer awareness game on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Hortonville wore white and FVL wore pink for the matchup. Cash from T-shirt sales and donations at the door went to American Cancer Society.

Kaukauna 4, Hortonville 2
KAUKAUNA – The Kaukauna Ghosts built a lead the Hortonville Polar Bears boys’ soccer team couldn’t overcome at Kaukauna on Thursday, Oct. 8.

After Kaukauna scored three first-half goals, Hortonville’s Jake Ziegert popped in a goal at 51 minutes, and teammate Jake Buhler helped catch up with a second goal at 77 minutes with an assist by Jon Quale. Kaukauna scored another goal at 84 minutes and held the win.

Kaukauna took 13 shots and Hortonville took six.

Hortonville 3, Appleton East 0
APPLETON – The Polar Bears scored three first-half goals in three minutes to win over the Appleton East Patriots on Oct. 6.

Hortonville’s Jake Buhler scored two goals and had one assist. Jake Bakich added the other goal for the Polar Bears’ shut-out game.
Appleton saves: 11.
