Jim Klismet received the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety Support Award.

The award was presented to him on Thursday, Oct. 8, at one of his businesses, Three Squares Restaurant.

Dan Gengler, a retired Milwaukee firefighter who lives in Waupaca, presented the award to Klismet on behalf of the alliance.

In 2011, Gengler approached Klismet and asked him if the alliance could borrow the large American flag which flies outside of the truck stop.

The alliance wanted to incorporate the flag into its Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth on Visitor’s Day.

Klismet said, “Yes.”

The camp, located in East Troy, has displayed Klismet’s flag between two ladder trucks as an entry for camp supporters and families.

The campers then parade under the flag in fire apparatus.

The award was presented to Klismet during Fire Prevention Week.
