Steenbock, Doris M.

Doris M. Steenbock, age 80 of Clintonville, entered her Heavenly home early Saturday morning, October 17, 2015 at the Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano after courageously battling the effects of a stroke over the past year.

Doris was born on May 26, 1935 in the Town of Larrabee, Waupaca County as the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Kautz) Schwenke. She attended Morning Star School, then St. Martin Lutheran School, and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1952. Doris was united in marriage to her best friend and love of her life, Henry Steenbock on April 16, 1955 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Pella Opening Church. The couple resided in Clintonville where Doris was an excellent homemaker and worked as an operator for Urban Telephone which became Frontier Communications before her retirement. Doris and Henry raised three children and enjoyed spending time with their family at family gatherings. They looked forward to spending time with all of them at their cottage on Shawano Lake. Doris loved to travel with Henry and in more recent years enjoyed a trip to Germany with her daughter Kathy. Henry preceded his wife in death on April 11, 2009. Doris had solid faith in her Lord and was a member at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville where she was active with the Ladies Aid and the Quilting Bee. She had a servant’s heart and enjoyed volunteering in her community with the food pantry, blood bank, and the Lutheran Thrift Store in Shawano. Doris loved a good game of sheepshead or bridge and enjoyed the friendships she made through her card clubs. Always one to stay active, she enjoyed gardening; especially her flowers, baking in her spare time, and staying busy with numerous projects. She touched many lives and was the best mother and grandmother for her family. A true blessing was for her to be able to attend her three grandchildren’s weddings this year.

Survivors include: her daughter, Kathryn (Rodney) Reinke, Shawano; two sons, Douglas Steenbock, Green Bay and Daniel (Carrie) Steenbock, Appleton; six grandchildren: Joseph (Rebecca) Reinke, Clintonville; Mark (Brittany) Reinke, Shawano; Amy (Andrew) Hartman, Madison, and Brooklynn, Bethany and Clara Steenbock, all of Appleton; two sisters, Joan Klevesahl, Appleton and Ruth Ann Buelow, Shawano; three sisters-in-law: Carol (Donald) Darm, Shawano and Elverna Schwenke and Carol Steenbock, both of Clintonville. Also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, brother Donald Schwenke, also numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
