Scandinavian Boutique at FVTC

The Scandinavian Boutique and FVTC Showcase will be held 8 a.m.-5p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20-21.

This event showcases personal enrichment classes taught at Fox Valley Technical Center in Waupaca.

These classes will include rosemaling, woodcarving, glass art, needlefelting, photography, quilting, reupholstery, lampshade restoration and more.

Upon arrival each person will receive a free gift.

All handcraft items are created by the instructors and students from these classes. A variety of rosemaled wood items, woodcarved Santas and figurines, needle-felted pillows and purses, quilted and sewn items, glass art and photography will be among the items on sale.

Additional Scandinavian demonstrations will include the preparation and baking process for lefse, how krumkake crispy cookies are made on a special iron ,knitting and Norwegian weaving.

Completing the Scandinavian specialties will be baked goods including rosettes, sanbakkels, fattiman, and julekake alongside of jam, jellies and other ethnics treats.

There are also ethnic books, cookbooks and trolls from Norway.

The Kaffestue Cafe will offer fresh lefse, coffee, cocoa and tea. A big hit each year are the Smorbrod, open faced sandwiches, fiskesuppe, fish chowder, rommergrot and warm pudding.
