Hannemann, Duane

Duane R. Hannemann, age 82, of Fremont, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 16, 2015 in Waupaca.

He was born on June 9, 1933 in Fremont, the son of the late Rueben and Lenora (Kempf).  Duane served his country in the US Marines, spending time on Korea. In June 1958, Duane married May Engel. She preceded him in death on April 23, 1975. On May 23, 1987, Duane married Lynette Behm. Duane worked as a sheet metal fabricator for Miller Electric for over 30 years before retiring. After retirement, Duane had a fix-it shop that he operated at his home. Duane was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield, and was proud to serve as janitor there for over forty years. He also sang in the choir for many years. Duane liked to travel, camp, go cross country skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, and hiking. He also enjoyed restoring model cars and driving them in parades around the area. Duane was a member of American Legion Post 391 in Fremont.

Duane is survived by his wife, Lynnette; six children: Barbara (Mary Wood) Hannemann, Olympia, WA; Beverly (Bill) Tusler, Neenah; Bonnie (Bill Colburn) Hannemann, San Diego, CA; Brenda (John) Gretzinger, Greenville; Brian (Karen) Hannemann, Milwaukee and Byron Hannemann, Fremont; two step-children, Jean (Steve) Wiechman, Milwaukee and Janet (Dave) Yonke, Fremont; nine grandchildren: Ron (Devon) Tusler, Elizabeth (Tony) Meyer, Kyle Colburn, Kellan Colburn, Daniel Gretzinger, Beatrice Gretzinger, Hope Marie Hannemann, Christian Hannemann and Michelle Hannemann; a step-granddaughter, Rebecca (Tim) Emond; two step-grandchildren, Ryan and Victoria Emond; brother, LaVerne (Janelle) Hannemann, TX; two sisters, Verona (LaVerne) Lipke, Fremont, and Janice Pope, Grand Chute; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded by a brother, Wilmer (Marilyn) Hannemann; brother-in-law, David Pope; a step-daughter, Debra (Leonard) Butt; an infant brother, Orville, and an infant granddaughter, Victoria.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, N6412 State Rd. 49, Weyauwega. Pastor John Taggatz will officiate. Burial with full military rites by Wolf River American Legion Post 391 will be in Concordia Cemetery in West Bloomfield. Visitation will be held on Friday, at the funeral home, from 4-7 p.m.
