Miller, Hazel I.

Hazel I. Miller, age 91, of Clintonville passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, November 18, 2015 at the Appleton Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Hazel Iva Miller was born August 14, 1924 in Chippewa County, WI, the daughter of the late Edward and Verla (Rowe) Dahl. She grew up in rural Clark County, WI and graduated from Granton High School. Following graduation, Hazel moved to Clintonville and worked briefly at the F.W.D., Clintonville. She met William E. Miller in Clintonville and the couple was united in marriage on May 24, 1947 at the First Methodist Church, Clintonville. Hazel joined Bill working on the family farm in the Town of Bear Creek until 1988, when they moved to Clintonville. Hazel also worked as a sales clerk for The Guy’s Shop/Fraulein’s, Clintonville for a time. Most recently she worked in local grocery stores doing food demonstrations and serving samples, only retiring last year at age 90. She was a loyal member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving faithfully on the Ladies Aid, church choir, as well as the altar guild. She put her sewing talents to use making many of the banners that hang in church. She loved to sew and quilt and also loved helping others develop their skills by serving as the clothing leader with the Hillside 4-H Club. Hazel participated in many craft shows with her creations over the years, often along with her daughters. She was also a 67 year member of the Marble Homemaker’s Club. Her other hobbies included playing cards with family and friends and spending time gardening. She is loved and will be missed.

Survivors include: her daughters: Karen (Elmer) Stuhr, New London; Marilyn (Ken) Bouchonville, Luxemburg; Janet (Doug Schertz) Miller, Clintonville; her sons, David Miller, Green Bay; Kevin (Meriel) Miller, Richland, WA; her grandchildren: Paula Miller, Amy Stuhr, William Stuhr, Brad (Kristine) Bouchonville, Kathy Miller, Kelly Bouchonville, Rick Bouchonville; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Virginia Gehrke and her nieces and nephews. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; her brother, Alvin (Jean) Dahl; her sisters-in-law, Margaret (John) Cassell; Gertrude (Glenn) Preuss; Marion (Oscar) Schroeder Jr.; her brothers-in-law, Keith Gehrke and Marvin Miller.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bear Creek, with the Rev. Michael Stock officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville, and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, or the Altar Guild.
