T-Birds soar past Indians

The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds chalked up 86-59 conference win Tuesday, Dec. 8, when they took on the Weyauwega-Fremont Indians at home.

Kristian Welch sank 9 of his game-high 25 points during the first half of the game, giving I-S a 30-23 lead.

The T-Birds came back strong in the second half, outscoring Weyauwega-Fremont by 20 points.

Welch, along with Zach Mortenson, combined for 29 points for I-S, while Alex Hulbert and Dylan Pankow chipped in 9 a piece for the Indians.

Top scorers for Iola-Scandinavia were Welch with 25, Mortenson with 21 and Ken Holz with 15.

Leading the way for Weyauwega-Fremont was Pankow with 14, followed by Hulbert with 13 and Logan Bosquez with 11.

Weyauwega-Fremont with host the Shiocton Chiefs on Friday, December 11, while the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds will travel to Bonduel to take on the Bears.
