Truckers start basketball season

Clintonville girls record strong win over Comets

The Clintonville Truckers boys’ basketball team began its season with a 1-1 record last week while the girls landed their second win to advance to a 2-1 record.

Boys
Clintonville 62, Oconto Falls 60
CLINTONVILLE – An Oconto Falls three-pointer at the final buzzer was still three points too short of overtaking Clintonville’s lead on Friday, Dec. 4.

Clintonville led 30-21 at the half.

Tyler Petermann led Clintonville in points (19) and free throws (5). Damon Lorge led in three-pointers (3) and scored the second most points (18).

Scoring: Petermann 19, Lorge 18, Nathan Krueger 13, Jordan Koeppen 6, Noah Hartleben 4, Sean Finger 2.
Rebounds: Petermann 11, Krueger 10, Hartleben 6, Koeppen 4.
Assists: Petermann 3, Hartleben 3, Koeppen 2, Kyle Finger 1, Krueger 1, Lorge 1.
Steals: Petermann 4, Lorge 4, Koeppen 3, Hartleben 2, Krueger 1.

Menasha 58, Clintonville 53
MENASHA – The Truckers gave up their lead in the second half of their season opener at Menasha on Dec. 1.

Three Clintonville players carried all the scoring duties: Krueger (22), Petermann (21) and Lorge (10).

Rebounds: Krueger 7, Petermann 5, Lorge 2, Koeppen 2.
Assists: Hartleben 4, Koeppen 4, Lorge 2, Petermann 2, Sam Wittman 1.
Steals: Lorge 2, Koeppen 1, Krueger 1.
Turnovers: Lorge 3, Koeppen 2, Petermann 2, Krueger 1, Hartleben 1.

Girls
Clintonville 44, Waupaca 19
CLINTONVILLE – The Clintonville girls’ basketball team separated itself from the Waupaca Comets early and took off with the lead.

The Truckers led 21-5 at halftime.

“Our team defense was exceptional,” said Truckers coach Nick Yaeger. “The defense we played won us the game. We had great intensity from start to finish. The girls did an excellent job of executing the game plan.”

Catherine Morse: 14 points, 12 rebounds and 1 assist.

Autumn Voigt: 12 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists.

Erin Baumgart: 6 points, 2 rebounds.

Megan Wittman: 5 points, 2 rebounds.

Caitie Carpenter: 3 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Etta Sorenson: 2 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

Maddi Didier: 2 points and 2 rebounds.
