Investigators seek person who sexually assaulted pregnant marePC-sheriffbadge

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for sexually abusing a pregnant horse in Waupaca County.

On Sunday, Nov. 29, a farmer at E8743 Crain Road, New London, called authorities after finding his 5-year-old pregnant horse bleeding and injured. He believes the incident happened Saturday night or early Sunday.

Waupaca County Sheriff Brad Hardel said he thinks a sort of hobbling device was used to abuse the horse.

“Animal sexual abuse is a serious issue closely linked to pedophilia and human sexual violence. I’m glad The HSUS is able to assist the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office with a reward to help identify this dangerous predator in our community,” said Melissa Tedrowe, Wisconsin state director for the HSUS.

Sheriff Hardel is asking for anyone who may have information about the crime to contact the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office at 715-258-4466.
