Ward (Foxy) Fox, age 89 passed on November 28, 2015.

He was born and raised in Marion, Wisconsin where he graduated from high school in 1944. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII as a Pharmacist Mate aboard an aircraft carrier stationed in the South Pacific Theater. After the war, he attended UW-Oshkosh where he graduated with a dual degree in Chemistry and Biology with a minor in Physical Education. He was very active in tennis, boxing, football and basketball while attending the university. Ward moved to Waupaca and taught Chemistry and coached various men’s sports at the high school. After nine years of teaching, he became the Chemist and eventually moved into the position of Head of Technical Sales at Filter Materials Inc. where he worked for many years. Upon retirement, Ward and his wife enjoyed spending the winters in southern Florida.

Ward is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan; three children: Cathy Kaniszewski (Leon), Chris Van Dellen (Eric Kahler), and John Fox (Radmila); four grandchildren: Leon Kaniszewski (FeFe Gorges), Jesse Armstrong (Brian), Daniel Fox and Samuel Fox; five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Fred Rasmussen and Jerry Taber (Janet); a sister-in-law, Jacci Taber; cousins: Paul Michaelis (Linda), Peter Michaelis and Peggy Kranzusch (Jerry); and several nieces and nephews.

Ward was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and the game of golf. He enjoyed many years of duck hunting on Vesey Lake and deer, turkey and squirrel hunting at the Triple 7 Sportsman’s Club.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Park Vista for their kindness and assistance to Ward over the past two years. Ward will truly be missed by his family and friends. His legendary tales about the big ones that got away and his quick wit will be remembered by all.

A summer ceremony will be held at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, date pending. Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
