Waupaca police officers were dispatched to  Granite and Main streets shortly before 11:30 a.m. today (Tuesday) after receiving reports of a man “taking his clothes off.”

Police received another call that the man was now breaking out the windows of a parked vehicle near Kwik Trip on West Fulton Street.

On arrival, officers identified the suspect as David O. Lerdahl, 34, Kenosha.

“During our initial contact, Lerdahl advised that he was participating in a DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) training exercise and he was being timed,” according to Waupaca Police Chief Tim Goke.

Lerdahl then fled on foot and was apprehended without incident following a short chase. He was then booked into Waupaca County jail pending charges of disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, obstructing police and probation violation.

Police determined that there was no DEA training exercise in progress.
