Salzman Sr., Philip L.

Philip L. Salzman, Sr., age 77, of Wild Rose, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center.

He was born on March 22, 1938 in Tigerton, WI to the late Louis A. and Agnes (Johnson) Salzman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Philip received his bachelor degree in finance from UW-Platteville, as well as CPA and CPCU designations. Thirty years of his CPA career were spent with Wausau Insurance Co. in Wausau, WI followed by 10 years at Touchpoint Health Care in Appleton. Upon retirement, he became an accomplished author, writing many historical articles for the Marion Advertiser. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in his yard at the former Dopp Schoolhouse. Philip was united in marriage to RoseMary VanNuland on February 16, 1963 in Tigerton, WI and they were blessed with three children. He was very proud of his family, children and granddaughters.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, RoseMary; three sons: Philip, Jr. of Kileen, TX; John and Kate of Green Bay; Andreas and Jennifer of Creswell, OR; and four granddaughters: Madeline, Olivia, Amelia and Gabrielle.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, N2845 Shadow Rd, Waupaca, with Fr. Xavier officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. Full military honors will follow the service. Burial of ashes will take place in the spring at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery in Waupaca. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
