Olson, Donald L.

Donald “Don” L. Olson, 86, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

He was born May 24, 1929 in Amherst, WI to the late Alvin and Marina (Zwicky) Olson. He was Regional Sales Manager for SCM Corporation for 23 years and was also a realtor for FC Tucker Emge Realtors for 27 years. Don lettered in baseball in high school while playing for the Scandinavia Vikings. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper for the US 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell. Don was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved to fish. He always looked forward to his annual fishing trip to the Ozarks with the same group of friends for over 40 years.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carol Olson, Vivian Petersen, and Violet Peterson; brother, Kenneth Olson; and son, David Olson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alma Faye (Jones) Olson; daughters, Janet “Jan” Svok of Newburgh and Judy Olson of Evansville; son, Donald R. Olson (Sherry Kern) of Evansville; grandchildren, Michael Svok (Allison Odette), Paige Olson, and Clay Olson; and great-grandchildren, Keaton and Skyelar.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 6501 Madison Avenue, Evansville, IN, officiated by Rev. Robert Schneider, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends visited Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
