The Iola-Scandinavia boys’ basketball team improved their overall record to 6-2 when they defeated the Tigerton Tigers 89-23 in a nonconference match-up in Iola Tuesday.

Kristian Welch scored 20 points in the first half of the game and Zach Mortenson added 11 to give the T-Birds a 49-13 lead in the game.

The T-Birds did not slow down in the second half and once again out-scored the Tigers 40-10.

Welch led all scoring with 31 points, followed by Mortenson with 19 and Kenny Holz with 8.

Alan Parrott led the way for the Tigers with 7, followed by Alec Berg and Patrick Bailey with 6 each.

The T-Birds next game will be on January 4, when they host the Marion Mustangs.
