Warnke, Elva E.

Elva E. Warnke, age 94, of Fremont died on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton.

She was born on December 22, 1921 in the Town of Wolf River, the daughter of the late Frederick and Johanna (Arndt) Schmidt. On June 15, 1946, Elva married Werner Warnke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield. Together they farmed for many years until he preceded her in death on April 25, 1978. Elva was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fremont where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She also volunteered at Bethesda and for Meals on Wheels. Elva will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elva is survived by three sons, James (Beth), New London; Ronald (Rebecca), Fremont and Mark (Robin), Appleton; a daughter, Ann (Kevin) Nelson, Appleton; 14 grandchildren: Randy (Alicia) Warnke, Kevin (Halako) Warnke, Conrad (Kaelyn) Wiles, Aaron (Katie) Warnke, Bryan (Bethany) Warnke, Scott (Alyssa) Warnke, Russell (Liz) Warnke, Eric Stuebs, Kristen (Jason) Scherck, Kari Nelson, Brittany Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Adam Warnke and Emily Warnke; 10 great-grandchildren: Chris, Nailea, Liv, Becker, Marshall, Warner, Oliver, Jenna, Ella and Reinhard; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by five brothers, William (Ruth) Schmidt, Walter (Lucille) Schmidt, Joe (Marie) Schmidt, Nathaniel Schmidt and Oscar (Mary) Schmidt; three sisters, Lillian (Gerhardt) Gauerke, Ella (Melvin) Smith and Frieda (Lyle) Holtz.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope officiated. Burial is in Wolf River Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday at the church from 9a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Organ Fund. The Lewin Funeral Home in Fremont assisted the family with arrangements.
