Pomerenke, Ruth Marie

Ruth Marie Pomerenke, age 89, of Neenah, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

On October 4, 1926, Ruth was born in Amherst, to the late Adolph and Ida (Lindquist) Price. On July 18, 1953, Ruth was united in marriage to Norbert W. Pomerenke in Amherst. Together they had six children and she became a stay at home mother and homemaker. Ruth was very involved in her children’s activities as they grew. With her love for knowledge, she encouraged her children and eventually her grandchildren to pursue an education. Ruth was a talented pianist, enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and was well known for excellent cooking skills. She also enjoyed watching the Packers and cheering on the Brewers. Ruth loved gardening in her flower beds with her husband. Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha and was a member of the Ladies Aid as well as other programs such as Cradle Roll. Ruth will be remembered as being an incredible role model for her family, a great listener, and having a kind soul.

Ruth will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 62 years, Norbert; their children: Susan (David) Acaley, Marian (William) Fenlon, David (Ella) Pomerenke, Doug (Mary Ellen) Pomerenke, Janine (James) Heid, Ronald Pomerenke; grandchildren: Michelle (Brody) Rice, Therese (Pavel) Tishakov, BJ (Michelle) Acaley, Emily, Peter, and Victoria Fenlon, Eric and David Jr. Pomerenke, Charles Oberweiser, Angela (Jon) Kvalheim, Shaun Pomerenke, Eric (Quintina Fuller) Heid, Jonathon and Joshua Heid; her great-grandchildren: Mark and Alaena Rice; Gregor and Evan Tishakov, Adele Acaley, and Alexandria Pomerenke; former daughter-in-law, Marguerite Almirall-Kelley; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Acaley; and her brothers: Raymond (Dorothy) Price, Le Roy (Lorraine) Price, and Phillip (Loretta) Price.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad Street in Menasha with Rev. Steven Billings officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church. Entombment will take place inside Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
