Iola-Scandinavia defeats Marion

Adam Cherek had the hot hand for the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds scoring a game high 20 points to lead I-S to an 80-21 victory over the Marion Mustangs in a Jan. 4 non-conference game in Iola.
The T-Birds outscored the Mustangs 46-14 in the first half of the game. Cherek scored 17 of his points, while Zach Mortenson added 8 and Charlie Stockwell 6 more.
Iola-Scandinavia continued their drive into the second half, outscoring the Mustangs 34-7, led by Nathan Korb with 8 points.
Cherek led all scoring with 20 points, followed by Mortenson with 15 and Kenny Holz with 9.
Chris Buss topped the scoring for the Mustangs with 6, followed by Malechi Matz with 4.
The Thunderbirds, who improved their record to 7-2 overall, will travel to Pacelli on Friday, Jan. 8, to take on the Cardinals.
