Tuomi, Bernadette “Bernie” P.

Bernadette “Bernie” P. Tuomi, age 66, of Iola, WI, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at St. Michael’s Hospital, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Bernie was born in Duluth, Minnesota on October 11, 1949, a daughter of the late RoseMary (Cosgrove) and Kenneth Mahnke. She married Dean “Duke” Tuomi on June 9, 1973 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Pike Lake, MN. Bernie grew up in Sag-inaw, Minnesota and graduated from Proctor High School in Proctor, Minnesota. She was a certified nursing assistant; working at View Crest Nursing Facility in Duluth along with private duty caregiving. She worked for the family owned T&M Carpet Cleaning and Systems. Bernie also worked at the Country Kitchen in Cloquet, Minnesota. Bernie and Duke moved to Iola in 1988 and she worked at Iola Nursing Home and the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, retiring 2014. Bernie enjoyed, bowling, gardening, dancing, family gatherings, cooking, going to the fitness center, traveling, casino ventures with Duke, visiting and drinking coffee with her friends in Iola.

She is survived by her husband, Dean “Duke” Tuomi, of Iola; children: Aaron (Amy) Tuomi, of Seymour, his children, Bryce, Brenden and Lydia; Chandarose (Tom) Loskot, of Winneconne, her children, Deion and Dylan; Rochelle (Frank) Woiak, of Iola, her children, Rebecca and Anthony; Ryan (Michele) Tuomi, of Appleton, his children, Tate and Trent; brother, Butch (Diane) Mahnke of Saginaw, MN; sisters: Kathleen (Mike) Bingham of Phoenix, Claudia (Bob) Mahnke of Billings, Montana and Rita (Terry) Lindner of Cloquet, MN. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemarie Ringhoffer.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23rd with Father Xavier Santiago officiating. Visitation will be held Friday 4-7 p.m. at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola and Saturday 10-11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
