Polar Bears continue to lead FVA

Hortonville girls win two more

The Hortonville girls’ basketball team tacked on another two wins last week to keep maintaining the best record in the Fox Valley Association this season.

The Polar Bears defeated Oshkosh West 46-41 on Friday, Jan. 22. Both teams fought until the end, with Hortonville leading 20-19 at the half.

Senior Madi Walter scored 17 points and junior Morgan Allen had 12 rebounds.

As of Monday, Jan. 25, Hortonville ranked first in the Fox Valley Association with a 10-1 record, followed by Kimberly (9-2) and Appleton North (8-3). North was scheduled to play Hortonville on Tuesday, Jan. 26, after this newspaper went to press.

Scoring: Madi Walter 17, Morgan Allen 11, Jenna Jalling 9, Shay Frederick 5, Lexy Campshure 2, Olivia Griesbach 2. Leading rebounders: Allen 12, Walter 6.

Hortonville 61, Fond du Lac 23
FOND DU LAC – The Polar Bears rattled the Fond du Lac Cardinals in a conference blowout on Jan. 19.

The Polar Bears pounced on the Cardinals early with a 32-11 lead at the half. Madi Walter led Hortonville in scoring with 18 points, and Shay Frederick contributed 17.

After the game, Hortonville held its No. 1 ranking in the Fox Valley Association with a 9-1 season record. Fond du Lac was fifth and 6-4.
