Traffic stop ends with drug bust

A teen out on felony bail was arrested after deputies reported finding LSD in his car.

Kevin J. Ott, 19, Black Creek, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and felony bail jumping.

In September 2015, Ott appeared in Waupaca County Circuit Court on four counts of burglary, nine counts of theft and one count of possession of methamphetamine. He was released on a $5,000 signature bond with the conditions that he not possess any illegal drugs.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, Waupaca County Deputy Nick Traeger was in the Bear Creek Citgo’s parking lot monitoring traffic on U.S. Highway 45. He heard a vehicle with a loud exhaust system and made a traffic stop.

Before Traeger exited his squad car, he noticed a flurry of movement by the driver and his front seat passenger. Traeger contacted Deputy Bryan Strobusch for assistance.

When Traeger asked the driver, identified as Ott, for his license, he noticed that his hands were shaking, the complaint says.

The 16-year-old passenger was wearing a winter hat with a smiley face and the word “Molly,” which is urban slang for a hallucinogenic drug.

When Strobusch arrived, he saw what appeared to be a bindle in the back seat – a twist of aluminum foil inside a cellophane cigarette wrapper.

Strobush told the passenger to exit the vehicle, then asked him what was lin the back seat. The passenger said it was the wrapper from his milk container.

Strobusch removed the item, unfolded the aluminum foil and found a small square of paper that was later identified as LSD.

According to the criminal complaint, Ott told deputies that they paid $60 for three dabs of LSD in a Shiocton parking lot.
