Snowmobiler drives into river

A snowmobile rider was pulled from the Wolf River in Fremont shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6.

Fremont police were dispatched to the Wolf River Crossings boat launch, under the State Highway 110 bridge, for a report of a snowmobiler who drove into open water and was now trying to swim to shore.

When officers arrived on scene an 18-year-old Winneconne man was being helped out of the water by bystanders, who also gave him a blanket.

Emergency medical responders treated the man and released him to a family member.

This case was forwarded to a conservation warden with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for further investigation.
