Although the New London girls’ basketball team fell to Xavier 49-38 on Thursday, Feb. 4, Bulldogs head coach Troy Krause said his players showcased solid athleticism.

“The girls competed well against a very good team,” Krause said. “There was about a five-minute stretch when we went on a bit of a scoring drought, and then ended up determining the outcome of the game. But the girls played hard and fought through some adversity to represent New London well.”

The Bulldogs led 23-22 at the half before falling behind Xavier in the second stretch of the game.

New London ranked fourth in the Bay Conference with a 6-4 record following the game. The Bulldogs were scheduled to play Menasha Tuesday, Feb. 9, after this newspaper went to press.

The Bulldogs will travel to Seymour Friday, Feb. 12, and play a home game against West De Pere Monday, Feb. 15. Both start at 7:15 p.m.

Leading scorers: Leah Porath 16, Kate Christian 7, Cassidy Pethke 6. Leading rebounders: Porath 5, Macy Madsen 5, Olivia Steingraber 4.
