Dennis Lee Sorenson, 80, of Iola, WI passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Riverside Medical Center, Waupaca, Wisconsin.
Dennis was born in Iola, Wisconsin on April 8, 1935, a son of the late Gladys (Helgeson) and Arling Sorenson. He married Nancy Selmer on Oct 10, 1964 at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. Dennis graduated from Iola High School in 1953 and served in the United States Army. He worked on highway construction and later for the Waupaca County Highway Dept. for 20 years. Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and golfing. He always looked forward to going to Crystals and having coffee with his buddies. Dennis was a member of the Iola Muskie Club, Iola Lions Club and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sorenson, of Iola; daughter, Wendy (John) Hanson, of South Milwaukee, WI; son, Rich (Betsy) Sorenson, of Little Chute; grandchildren: Maxwell (Andrea) Sorenson, Jordan (Austin) Sorenson and Amy Hanson; sister, Carolyn Gunderson of Iola; brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Sorenson of Iola, and James (Linda) Sorenson of Phelps. He is further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Robert Gunderson.
Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 22nd, with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Scandinavia, Wisconsin.
