Concert tickets available at door

By John Faucher

Members of the New London Veterans Memorial Foundation said ticket sales increased last week for the upcoming UW Varsity Band concert at New London High School.

Around 100 members of the band will perform March 6 at 2 p.m.

The concert is a fundraiser for the New London Veterans Memorial Foundation.

The foundation has raised $50,000 towards its goal of $250,000 for the memorial planned in Taft Veterans’ Park in downtown New London.

The band concert is the largest fundraiser the foundation members have planned to date.

A portion of the concert proceeds will also be used to offer a high school senior a scholarship. Tickets for Sunday’s concert are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Seniors and student tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door.

Advance ticket outlets include the New London Chamber of Commerce office, Festival Foods, First State Bank in Dale, and Wolf River Community Bank in Hortonville.

Foundation member Jim Jaeger said the concert is general admission seating in the gymnasium, with some floor seating available.

“There will be plenty of tickets available at the door on Sunday,” said Jaeger.

Doors open at 1 p.m. Event volunteers will be there earlier preparing a hospitality lunch for band members before the concert.

“They’re college kids. I’m sure they will bring an appetite with them and they always enjoy some good home cooked food,” said Jaeger.
Members of the local veterans’ organizations plan on attending and posting their colors in the entrance of the school.

“We’ve extended an invitation to all the veterans’ organizations in the area,” said Jaeger. Concertgoers who are veterans are encouraged to wear their colors for the event.

Foundation members have planned numerous silent auction items, door prizes and raffle items to be given away during the event.

They will also sell tickets for their “21 gun salute” raffle drawing in August.
