Students make music with professional saxophonist

By Scott Bellile

Swing rhythms, musical riffs and plenty of improvisation filled the New London High School auditorium Tuesday, March 15, as students performed with Lawrence University instructor and saxophonist Sumner Truax.

Truax collaborated with the New London High School Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 ensembles and the New London Intermediate/Middle School jazz band at the music program’s annual Guest Artist Concert.

The bands covered artists including Duke Ellington, Tito Puento and Radiohead.

The high school bands are under the direction of Adam Hardt. The middle school band is led by Stefanie Benjamin.
