Guerin, Ilene E.

Ilene E. Guerin, age 89, of New London, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Ilene was born on October 19, 1926 in the Town of Lebanon, (Waupaca County), the eldest daughter of the late Charles and Elsie (Scherning) Frederick. She met and married the love of her life, Donald Guerin on November 18, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1978. Ilene and Don raised a large family of 11 children. She took care of her large family through the years, as well as anyone who crossed her path. There was a place for anyone in her home, where strangers soon became friends. Ilene loved all kinds of music and played with her father Charles in a band. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed canning, baking and gardening. She passed on her culinary skills to her children and grandchildren. Ilene was active in TOPS club and enjoyed working at Markman’s grocery store for many years. She will be remembered for her generosity and kindness.

Ilene is survived by her children: Larry (Pat) Guerin, Tennessee; Jane (Lamar) Wilson, Waupaca; George (Sue) Guerin, New London; Michael “Chopper” (Jane) Guerin, Shiocton; Peggy Guerin and special friend Jerry Dickey, McFarland; Pam (Mike) Ritchie, New London; Linda Alexander, New London; Bonnie (Randy) Behnke, Oshkosh; Nancy Gierach and special friend Jeff Reikowski, Chilton; John (Kolinda) Guerin, Clintonville; a sister, Delores (Wayne) Dean, New London and a son-in-law David (Kim) Burns, Baileys Harbor. She will be sadly missed by her 31 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Burns and her sister, Gerri Kriewaldt.

The funeral ceremony for Ilene will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with the Rev. William Heiges officiating. Interment will be in the Ostrander Cemetery at Northport. Visitation will be held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Ilene’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Lakeview Manor for their loving care and kindness. Also, a very sincere thank you to the staff of Theda Care Hospice for their compassionate and wonderful care. No one could ask for a better mother and grandmother. You were our everything and you will be missed beyond measure.
