Weyauwega-Fremont spoiled the season opener for the Waupaca softball team March 29 by handing the Comets a 9-0 nonconference loss.

Taylor Flease had two-run singles in the sixth and seventh innings for the Indians, while Jordan Rucks and Kiley Akey also had two of the team’s 10 hits.

Cadyn Ehrenberg pitched a two-hitter and struck out 12 batters to pick up the win on the mound.

Alyssa Engebretson took the loss for the Comets.

Waupaca will host Wrightstown at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in the North Eastern Conference opener, while the Indians open Central Wisconsin-8 Conference play April 5 in Stevens Point against Pacelli.
