Huntoon, Ruby M.

Ruby M. Huntoon of Waupaca, age 88, passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.

She was born in Amherst, WI on September 20, 1927 to the late Arnold and Loretta (Wenzel) Koplien. She married Edwin Huntoon on March 29, 1961 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2011. Ruby graduated from Amherst High School. She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ruby was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Rural Historical Society and a long time member of Waupaca Fitness Center. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and traveled throughout Europe and Algeria. She and her husband also lived in Mallorca, Tunisia and St. Martens.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Peri (Ernest) Kott of New York; Patricia (John) Huebner of Iowa; Kathleen (Dean) Oehlke of Texas; Steven (Sharon) Minton of Waupaca; Kevin (Kimberly) Minton of Waupaca; Lori Huntoon (Scot Krebs) of Beloit; Joseph Huntoon of Waupaca; stepson, Andrew (Linda) Huntoon of Appleton; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Bea (Ozzie) Anderson of Minocqua and Jeanette (Norman) Hudziak of Wild Rose; sister-in-law, Debra Shanklin of Iola; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; stepfather, Walter “Coolie” Kiekhafer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois (Gordon) Berto and Carol (Al) Leu; stepbrothers, Gerald Shanklin and Bill Shanklin; stepsister, Dorothy Rusch and daughter-in-law, Denice Minton.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2016 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waupaca. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 until 6 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, and again on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery.
