Martinson, Schlais elected

New London election results

Chris Martinson and Virginia Schlais were both elected to three-year terms to the New London School Board in Tuesday’s election.

Of the three candidates vying for two school board seats, Martinson received the most votes with 2,713. Schlais received 2,422 votes and was reelected to the board. Mary Swifka finished third with 2,225.

City council
In the only contested race for New London City Council Mike Barrington fended off challenger Debbie Banda in District 3. Barrington received 282 votes while Banda received 104 votes.

Mary Tate (District 2), Ron Steinhorst (District 4) and Dennis Herter (District 5) were each reelected to the council after running unopposed.

John Faucher was elected to his first term on the council in District 1. He ran unopposed.

Mayor Gary Henke was also unopposed and was reelected, as was City Attorney Earl Luaders.
