Schroeder, Wayne F.

Schroeder, WayneWayne F. Schroeder, age 75, of Appleton, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on November 13, 1940 to the late Allen and Sara Margaret (Plowman) Schroeder in Waupaca. Wayne worked in law enforcement for several years with the Outagamie County Sheriff Department. He was an avid outdoorsman, and a board member of several conservation groups including: The Wisconsin Chapter of Wild Turkey Federation, Conservation Congress of Outagamie County, The Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters, Fox Valley Muzzle Loaders and The Board of Governors for Fox River Academy Charter School. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his daughters and planting hundreds of trees for wildlife. Most of all, Wayne was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and he will be missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Carole; his daughters, Barb (Dan) Mincheff and Laurie (Jeff) Krueger; and grandchildren, Dawson, Tyler and Arya Krueger. Wayne is further survived by his sister, Lois (George) Alfsen; brothers and sisters-in law, Jon (Judy) Anderson and Julie (Brad) Walborn, and nieces and nephews, Geoff (Lisa) Alfsen, Gregg (special friend Diane) Alfsen, Cristi (Matt) Spence, Scott (special friend Andrea) Anderson and Glenn Walborn. Preceding Wayne in death are his parents; an infant brother, Gary Allan Schroeder; his parents-in-law, Carl and Ruth Anderson and his three little buddies, Tawney, Psych and Morgan.

A memorial service for Wayne will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond St, Appleton. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wayne’s name can be made to either the National Kidney Foundation or the Fox River Academy.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. David Koeper and Staff, Dr. Carter Noble and Staff, Dr Frederick Hildebrandt and Staff and Dr. Susan Hibbs and Staff for the exceptional care given to Wayne.
