Cameron Harbridge, of Iola, placed third in the state Peace Poster Contest sponsored by Lions Clubs International.

Wisconsin Lions District 27-2B Governor Susan Selner presented a monetary award to Harbridge, at the April 4 meeting of the Iola Lions Club.

The daughter of Jeannine and Mike Harbridge is a sixth grader at Iola-Scandinavia Elementary School. Her entry, sponsored by the Iola Lioness Club, won at the District 24-2B level before advancing to the state level.

“I am honored to receive this recognition at the state level, and want to thank the Lions for inviting me to their dinner,” she said.

“We are so proud of the hard work Cameron put into her poster,” her parents said. “We would like to thank Lions District Governor Susan Selner for attending the Lions meeting to recognize Cameron.”

The winning posters are selected based on originality, artistic merit and portrayal of this year’s theme “Share Peace.”

“To see this poster get recognized at the state level makes us proud,” said Iola Lioness President Alice Peterson.

Lions International sponsors the annual Peace Poster Contest to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere.

“It is a pleasure to encourage the local kids to get involved in the Peace Poster competition,” said Iola Lions President Steven Olson. “It is a good project for the Lions and Lioness to sponsor.”

“Helping youth is an opportunity to set an example for the next generation,” Selner said. “It also brings the message of Lions’ service work to their parents.”

Harbridge’s poster will be displayed at the Wisconsin Lions Convention on May 19-21 in Appleton.
