Program introduces students to business

The Wisconsin Business World program, a Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce initiative, partnered with Tyson Foods to host the one-day session on business and entrepreneurship. Approximately 80 students from New London, Hortonville and Shiocton took participated at Crystal Falls Banquet Facility in New London on Friday, April 8.

Mini Business World covered Wisconsin’s economy and the opportunities available in the state as well as introduced students to what it takes to prepare for the workplace.

Students were challenged to take over an old, outdated company and in one day re-brand their company, complete with a new product, logo and tagline. Communications and Finance projects round out the student experience. Students left with an increased knowledge of the workplace, the state economy and some of the companies that call Wisconsin home.

This program showed students the challenges businesses face when making decisions in areas such as finance, marketing and communications. The students interacted with others in their “company,” allowing them to collaborate and function as a team just like in the real world of business.
