Panthers sweep Comets

Waupaca drops game to Lux-Casco

Oconto Falls swept a North Eastern Conference softball doubleheader from Waupaca April 22.

The Panthers won the opener 6-3 and completed the sweep with a 9-3 win in the second game.

Waupaca also dropped a 10-0 North Eastern decision April 9 to Luxemburg-Casco.

Victoria Nowak had three of Waupaca’s nine hits in the first game, while Brenna Oleson and Caroline Ogden chipped in with two each.

Oconto Falls scored three times in the top of the fifth inning to take a 6-1 lead. Waupaca came back with two runs in the seventh.

The Panthers took a 6-0 lead with two runs in the first, second and fourth in the second game before Waupaca got on the board with three runs in the sixth.

Markie Ash had two of Waupaca’s seven hits in the game, while Madison Helmle drove in three runs for Oconto Falls.

Alyssa Engebretson took the loss for Waupaca in the first game and Taylor Giefer took the loss in the second game.

LUXEMBURG – Cassie Schlitz held the Comets to one hit and struck out eight batters to get the win on the mound.

The Comets hosted Freedom April 26 and will play at Wrightstown at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28. Waupaca also has a rescheduled home game with New London at 4:15 p.m. Friday, April 29.
