Will the Iola-Scandinavia boys’ golf team win a fourth consecutive Central Wisconsin Conference championship?

That remains to be seen, but the Thunderbirds will have the opportunity for another title at the CWC meet Thursday, May 19, at Manawa’s Cedar Springs Golf Course. Teams from Amherst, Bonduel, Manawa, Marion, Menominee Indian/Gresham, Pacelli, Shiocton, Weyauwega-Fremont and Wittenberg-Birnamwood will also compete at the meet, which starts at 9 a.m.

Last year’s conference championship came down to I-S and Pacelli, as both teams tied for first in the final team standings with 19 points after I-S edged the Cardinals by four strokes at the CWC meet at Foxfire Golf Club in Waupaca. The T-Birds won the overall championship on the first playoff hole.

The T-Birds and Cardinals have competed on the same course a number of times this season, including a 10-team CWC match May 10 at Glacier Wood Golf Club in Iola.

Amherst won that meet with a round of 365, followed by Pacelli (367), I-S (378), W-B (379), W-F (381), Manawa and Shiocton (416), Bonduel (456), Marion (460) and Menominee Indian/Gresham (563).
