Zuhse, Norma L.Norma L. Zuhse, age 91 of Shawano, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, May 13, 2016 with family by her side.

Norma was born on August 3, 1924 to Fred and Julia Pahl in the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, Wisconsin. She lived in the Shawano/Clintonville/Marion areas her entire life. She spent several years as a 4H leader, Sunday school teacher, and was active in Ladies’ Aid Societies. Upon returning to Shawano several years ago she rejoined St. James Lutheran Church where she had been baptized, confirmed, and married. Norma will be remembered as a generous person who always considered the needs of others before her own. She was grateful for her very special niece, Chris Martin Johnson, for her love and support as a caregiver over the last several years. She also appreciated her daughter, Sharon; granddaughters, Carrie, Colleen, Tina, and Leanne; grandsons, Ivan and Jamey, and great-granddaughter Elly for their love and many visits.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (John) Curtiss of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; her daughter-in-law, Carla Korth of Clintonville; eight grandchildren, Carrie (Jeff) Arndt, Colleen (Todd) Schertz, Chad Korth, and Craig (Kim Buss) Korth, all of Clintonville, Ivan (Jamey) Machmueller of Shawano, Julie (Frank) Garrido of Carlsbad, California, Tina (Scott) Preuss of Mauston, Wisconsin, and Leanne (John) Templin of Reedsburg; nineteen great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; her sister, Dorothy Martin of Shawano; and her brother, Fred (Barbara) Pahl of Appleton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Korth; her son, Ronald; her husbands, Lorence Verch and Norman Zuhse; an infant grandchild; an infant brother, and her sister, Gertrude Wastel.

Funeral services for Norma were held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Pastor Roy Reinhard officiated and a special message was given by Norma’s nephew and godson, Dr. Jon Pahl, of Philadelphia, PA. Inurnment will take place at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Embarrass at a later date. In lieu of flowers and plants the family has requested donations be made to the Scholarship Fund at St. James Lutheran Church or the St. James Tabitha Society.
