Duane L. Thurner, 78 of Waupaca, WI passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

Duane was born on November 27, 1937 in the Town of Seneca, Shawano County, to the late Max and Lila (Mitchell) Thurner.

Duane graduated from Clintonville High School in 1955. He then proudly served in the U.S. Marines in 1956 till 1959. On May 23, 1959 he married Sharon LaLonde in Santa Ana, CA. Duane worked for ANR Pipeline, retiring 35 years later.

Duane is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Mary Madson; son, Randy (Nancy) Thurner; grandchildren, Melissa Thurner, Scott Thurner; great grandson, Jacob Thurner all of Waupaca, WI; sister, Judy Jirikowic of Clintonville; brother-in-law, Bill Jensen; and many other loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Duane is preceded in death by his brother, Terry; sisters, Yvonne (John) Fumelle, Iris Ranker, and Faye Jensen; brother–in-law, Jack Jirikowic.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday May 31, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Father Amalraj Roche will officiate. A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
