Marks, Thomas Henry

marksOn May 26, 2016, God saw that Tom was no longer able to fight the battle of many medical issues, so God decided to bring him home.

Thomas Henry Marks, age 73, was born on March 31, 1943 in New London, WI, the son of the late Harold (T’Bone) and Sadie Marks. He was baptized and confirmed in the faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New London. Tom graduated from New London High School and then attended Fox Valley Tech, where he received his Associates Degree in Automechanics. In 1963, Tom enlisted in the US Air Force and served in West Berlin, Germany, specializing in security service. After being honorably discharged in 1967, Tom worked for Miller Electric as an electronic assembler for 33 years before retiring. On June 13, 1964, Tom married the love of his life, best friend and soulmate, Janice Tews, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Fremont. Tom was a faithful member of Shepherd of the Hills in Greenville, where he served as an usher. He will always be remembered as a walking music dictionary, full of musical knowledge. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, travelling with Jan, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Tom will forever be loved and missed by his wife of nearly 52 years, Jan; his son, Scott (Stephanie); his daughter, Michelle (Gerald) Cooper. He was the proud papa of Alyssa, Sam, Jordan, Abby, Nathan, Jesse and Jacob. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donna Dunbar, Sue Tews, Rev. Jerome (Lynn) Tews, Rev. Dr. Chuck (Sharon) Tews, Cindy (Rick) Novotny, Bob (Molly) Tews, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will also be fondly remembered by many friends including his golfing buddies, Gary and Suzy Greenman; his four-legged friend, Buddy, and all of his critters on the deck. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Artie and Hilda Tews; two brothers-in-law, Gene Dunbar and Glenn Tews; and a cousin, Gary Taubel.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills, N1615 Meadowview Dr., Greenville. Rev. Steve Kline and Rev. Chad Starfeldt will officiate. Military rites will be performed. Burial will be in New Maple Creek Cemetery, New London. Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. The Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Tom’s family would like to extend a special Thank you to the staff at AMC ICU for all of their compassionate care, and also to Jay Rust for his unending support. It was all greatly appreciated.
