Man charged with substantial battery

A Waupaca bar fight resulted in a broken nose and a felony arrest.

Zachary M. Krings, 26, Berlin, is charged with substantial battery, disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.

At 2:18 a.m. May 22, Waupaca Police Officers Wesley Zube and Brent Krueger were dispatched to the Speakeasy Bar on West Fulton Street.

Witnesses told Zube that earlier that night, Krings urinated on a car parked in front of the tavern. When other patrons confronted Krings about it, he allegedly knocked two men down to the ground.

Zube reported one of the men was bleeding severely from his face and the back of his head. The man was transported by ambulance to the Waupaca hospital, where he was told he had a broken nose and needed surgery.

According to the criminal complaint, as police were taking Krings to jail, he became argumentative and called them “worthless pigs.”
