Patterson, Gerald B.

Patterson picGerald B. Patterson, age 82 of New London, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday May 28, 2016.

He was born on April 25, 1934, in Aurora, IL, son of the late Earl and Gladys (Wilkerson) Patterson. On February 22, 1986, he was united in marriage to Kay Woodliff. Gerry attended grade school in Illinois, Washington, and Wisconsin. He graduated from Tri County High School in Plainfield, WI in 1953. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. Gerry attended Stevens Point College from 1960 to 1962. He graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in 1963 and received his fifty year certificate of licensure from the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association in 2013. He worked for many years at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca until his retirement at which time he began to help out part time at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London. Gerry volunteered as an official for many curling events including the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Gerry is survived by his wife, Kay; his children, Joel (Arryn) Woodliff, New London; Staci (Troy) Kelcher, Yelm, WA; Gerad (Jenny) Patterson, Fort Myers, FL; two grandchildren, Kassie Woodliff and Rylan Kelcher; and a brother, Robert (Joey) Patterson, Wautoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Earl Patterson Jr., Richard Patterson and his twin brother, Harold Patterson.

The funeral ceremony for Gerry was held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London. Internment is in the Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Full military honors were held.
