Traffic
• June 12 – A man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 10 a.m. in the town of Bear Creek.

Jacob Crotty, 19, of Moline, Illinois, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 45 near Bear Creek Road and operating left of the center line. The vehicle then traveled into a driveway and crashed into a tree.

According to the police report, the driver stated that he fell asleep.

• June 11 – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 3:30 p.m. in the town of Larrabee.

Sandra Whitman, 54, of Appleton, was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 45 near Reinke Road when her vehicle traveled onto the the gravel shoulder.

Whitman overcorrected and the vehicle traveled into the northbound lanes of U.S. 45. The Whitman was vehicle was then hit by a northbound vehicle driven by Evan Stich, 28, of Wauwatosa.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital for non-incapacitating injuries. A passenger in the Stich vehicle, Kate Stich, 27, of Wauwatosa, was also transported.

• June 8 – A woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 9 a.m. in the town of Lind.

Bonnie Schneider, 58, of Waupaca, was driving southbound on County Trunk E near Lind Center Road when her vehicle entered the west ditch.

The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to travel across both lanes of traffic and enter the east ditch. The vehicle came to rest in the east ditch facing south.

According to the police report, the driver fell asleep.

• June 7 – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 6:30 p.m. in the town of Lind.

Maxwell Bauer, 20, of Waupaca, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 10 when he lost control of his vehicle and it entered the south shoulder and ditch line.

The vehicle struck a traffic sign and Bauer overcorrected, causing the vehicle to go back onto the roadway and cross both eastbound lanes. The car went through the grass median and entered the westbound lanes.

The Bauer vehicle was then struck by a westbound vehicle being driven in the slow lane by Michael Hudziak, 38, of Amherst. Hudziak had tried to avoid the collision by swerving.

The Bauer vehicle spun sideways, rolled onto its passenger side and flipped over, landing on trees in the crossover for Vaughan Road. The car came to rest facing southwest.

The Hudziak vehicle spun sideways into the grass median and came to rest facing southeast.

Hudziak and his two passengers, Timothy Harris, 21, of Waupaca, and Kaeley Erickson, 23, of Weyauwega, were transported to the hospital for incapacitating injuries.

• June 5 – A woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 10 p.m. in the town of Fremont.

Dawn Balthazor, 64, of Black Creek, was driving westbound on State Highway 96 near Marten Road when her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and entered the north ditch.

The vehicle traveled parallel to the highway for a distance before it struck and broke a utility pole. The vehicle then crossed both lanes of State 96 and continued into the south ditch. It then continue southbound through a cornfield before coming to rest in a drainage ditch.

According to the police report, the operator admitted to consuming three beers and taking a sleep aid (Ambien).

The police report listed the driver’s ability as impaired and stated that alcohol and drugs were present.
