Felony charge follows high-speed chase

A deputy pursued a motorcycle at high speeds nearly seven miles before the driver pulled over.

Matthew M. Buelow, 27, Cedar Grove, was charged with fleeing an officer.

He was also cited for reckless driving and speeding.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, Waupaca County Deputy Pete Kraeger was northbound on County Trunk K near Sanders Road in the town of Dayton when he saw a southbound motorcycle that appeared to be speeding.

According to the criminal complaint, his radar clocked the motorcycle at 88 mph.

Kraeger made a U-turn, activated his siren and emergency lights, and began pursuing the motorcycle.

The motorcycle continued south on County K, turned onto Radley Road, then onto Jensen Road, before it came to a stop.

When Kraeger asked him why he did not stop, Buelow reportedly said because he was on probation.

In August 2013, Buelow was convicted of possession of narcotics and two counts of theft in Ozaukee County and placed on three years of probation.
