Rodeo action coming to Manawa

Mid-Western Rodeo set for June 30, July 1-2

The Manawa Lions Club presents its 58th annual Mid-Western Rodeo June 30 and July 1-2, a in Manawa.

Rodeo performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. all three nights, Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. performance on Saturday.

Fireworks will follow the Thursday night rodeo.

“Our rodeo attracts 15,000 people to a town of 1,300,” said Rodeo Chairman Pete Ziebell. “The benefits are endless and it’s affordable family fun.”

“The Manawa Lions Club sponsors the rodeo to donate the money back to the community and it is also an opportunity for other organizations to raise money,” Ziebell said. “Remember, every dollar you spend at the rodeo benefits someone less fortunate than yourself.”

The 2016 Mid-Western Rodeo features seven contest events: Bareback bronc riding. team roping. steer wresting. saddle bronc riding. tie down roping. women’s barrel racing and bull riding, The stock contractor is Three Hills Rodeo, Inc., with Roger Mooney as the rodeo announcer.

The arena entertainment will be provided by Texas Jack Fulbright, trick roper; “Backflip” Johnny Dudley, rodeo clown and barrel man; and Manawa’s drill teams – Rodeo City Riders and Pink Ribbon Rebels.

Live music will follow the evening performances.
