Traffic
• July 17 – A man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 4:30 a.m. in the town of Iola.

Paul Pacocha, 46, of Iola, was driving eastbound on State Highway 161 near Rosholt Road when his pickup truck entered the south ditch.

The vehicle traveled a distance in the south ditch parallel to the road before the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross both lanes of traffic. The truck then entered the north ditch and overturned, coming to rest on its roof facing north.

Pacocha suffered incapacitating injuries and was transported from the scene by helicopter.

According to the police report, Pacocha did state he had been consuming alcohol; alcohol was present at the scene.

• July 15 – Two women were injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 10:30 p.m. in the town of Bear Creek.

A northbound vehicle driven by Sherry Laatsch, 63, of Bear Creek, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Sandra Splitt, 61, of Clintonville, on U.S. Highway 45.

According to the police report, the Splitt vehicle was slowing down to make a right turn onto Blueberry Road, but the Laatsch vehicle failed to slow down, causing the impact.

The Splitt vehicle traveled across the east side of Blueberry Road, struck the curb and became airborne. It came to rest in the east ditch of U.S. 45.

The Laatsch vehicle came to rest in the northbound lane of U.S. 45.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital with possible injuries.
