Take Charge Nutrition comes to Manawa

By Holly Neumann

For Karen Riemer, her own personal journey with health issues brought her to opening her own business.

“I was dealing with high blood pressure, type two diabetes and a weight problem,” she said. “I made the decision to take charge of my life, now I want to help others to the same. I want people to feel good about themselves.”

Take Charge Nutrition, located at 1161 Depot St., in Manawa, the former Park ’N Shop, will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by appointment.

According to Riemer, it is a unique place.

“We offer a nutrition bar where customers can come in for a smoothie, a shot of aloe vera or even herbal tea concentrate,” she said. “We also have vitamins, energy and fitness drinks and more.”

Customer Heather Timm enjoyed a peanut butter and jelly smoothie on their opening day.

“It sure is yummy,” said Timm. “Everyone should stop in and give it a try. This is a great addition to have in Manawa.”

Take Charge Nutrition will offer a wide variety of smoothie flavors to choose, including Almond Ameretto, Banana Cream Pie, Grasshopper and even an Elvis Shake.

“We are willing to give any flavor a try,” Riemer said.

Their products are geared towards losing weight or gaining weight and muscle.

“We also have one-to-one coaching available to help and guide you along your journey,” Riemer said. “It is truly a way to turn your life around.”

Other options include nutrition training and weight loss challenges.

“As soon as a customer walks into the door, they are considered part of our positive community here,” Riemer said. “Some people come here for a shake for their breakfast and to socialize. Others come here to meet with their coach. You can take advantage of whatever you need here at Take Charge Nutrition.”
