Wolf River Cleanup Day

Volunteers needed for Aug. 6

By John Faucher

The Wolf River Preservation Association is seeking volunteers to help with its annual river cleanup on Saturday, Aug. 6.

Ginger Arndt, Secretary for the Wolf River Preservation Association said, “Anyone interested in keeping the waterway clean and free of debris is more than welcome to join us.”

Arndt said the group is meeting at New London’s Riverside Park at 7:15 a.m. and they will clean as much as possible in a trek by water, down river from New London toward Fremont.

“The last shift will end around 4 p.m. but boats will be coming back to Riverside Park periodically if participants would like to only help for a certain number of hours,” Arndt said.

A lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided.

“Be sure to dress for the weather; bring work gloves, close toed shoes and work clothes,” Arndt said.

Arndt said funds for the cleanup were donated from Mark Flease from Wolf River Trips and Mike and Ted Coppersmith from Festival Foods in New London.

“Their continuous support of the river cleanup and financial support of the Wolf River Preservation Association helps us continue with the river cleanup, buoy maintenance and shoreline restoration projects,” said Arndt.

Anyone interested in participating in the clean up can call the New London Parks and Recreation Department at 920-982-8521 or Mike Klatt at 920-851-8744.
