Drowning in Weyauwega

Lifeguards and paramedics were unable to save a 19-year-old drowning victim Monday at the Weyauwega City Swimming Lake.

Weyauwega police reports that an emergency call came from the 400 block of West High Street at 4:16 p.m.

Lifeguards had pulled a young man from the water and were performing CPR.

Lifeguards, Gold Cross Ambulance staff and police tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“No foul play is suspected. The incident appears to be an accidental drowning,” according to a press release from Sgt. Brandon Leschke with the Weyauwega Police Department. “Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor.”
